![]() ![]() I downshifted to 4th and slowly let the clutch back in to try to "running-re-start" the bike, but it wouldn't pull back into an idle (or any ignited RPM for that matter). I pulled the clutch in and let the bike coast, but the bike died out as it plunged from idle to off. ![]() Wouldn't you know it I opened her up (barely) and took her up to a modest 80 on a long stretch I have a couple miles from the house to make sure there were no upper RPM studders/problems. I had my friend follow me in his car with an armory of jumper cables, a fire extinguisher, spare fuel, vacuum lines, and a tool kit that would make any ASE technician jealous. I knew I had double checked all my work so logically Murphy's Law would bite me somehow. Knowing this would be the first time my pride and joy saw the streets in four years got me thinking. After about two months of repairing, replacing, cleaning, draining, refilling, rewiring, and double-checking, I took the bike out to test ride. I bought the bike, brought it to my house, and immediately started tear-down. The previous owner had the bike sitting in storage for about 4 years and didn't know why the bike wouldn't restart. In response to Bobby's comment regarding engine coding, here's a little story for you guys. Is the Classic GSX-R really a "Crotch Rocket"? According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department: Yes.
